Pune, India - Canada's Alexandra Bruce, Toronto, and Michelle Li, Richmond Hill, Ont., fell 2-0 (18-21, 8-21) to the second seeded team from India in the final of the women's doubles badminton competition at the 2008 Commonwealth youth Games in India.
“This just wasn't our day,” said a dejected Bruce following the match.
After playing India tough in the first game, the Canadians made some uncharacteristic errors in the second game that led to the host side’s victory.
“We did not play well enough to win the gold tonight,” said Li. “After a strong opening game, we began making errors and our opponents took full advantage.”
