OTTAWA – Commonwealth Games Canada (CGC) congratulates the Honourable Kent Hehr on his appointment as the Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities. CGC looks forward to working with Minister Hehr in many areas including high performance sport as well as international development through sport.

“Congratulations to Minister Hehr on his appointment”, said Richard Powers, President of Commonwealth Games Canada. “We look forward to working closely with the Minister in continuing to advance sport and the Commonwealth in Canada and abroad. We will work with him on harnessing the power of sport and Games, which we know have transformational impacts on our citizens and communities”.

As the founder and four-time host of the Commonwealth Games (1930, 1954, 1978, 1994), Canada is considered one of the leading Commonwealth sport nations.
