PCL Constructors Canada Inc. donates $200,000 to CGC

TORONTO - PCL Constructors Canada Inc. has made a significant contribution to the development of Canada's amateur athletes, announcing a $200,000 donation to Commonwealth Games Canada (CGC) Monday evening in Toronto.

“We're proud to be involved in helping our Canadian athletes realize their full potential,” said Rob Holmberg, President of PCL Constructors Canada Inc. “These athletes truly exemplify our core values - excellence, leadership, passion, respect, and dedication - which is why supporting them is a very important part of our community investment.”

“PCL and their employees have demonstrated leadership in their support of Canadian athletes and the Commonwealth Games,” said George Heller, President of the Commonwealth Games Foundation of Canada. “Their strong and on-going fundraising efforts greatly assists us in preparing and sending our top athletes to the 2010 Commonwealth Games to be held in Delhi, India.”

PCL has been a supporter of CGC since 2002 and to date has raised more than $750,000 to help defray the cost of Canadian athletes participating in the Commonwealth Games.  They will continue their support through the 2010 Games that will be held in Delhi, India.  PCL raises funds for CGC through an annual golf tournament, which not only garners financial support for CGC, but engages prominent members of the construction industry in raising the profile of Canadian amateur athletes.
