Joe Morissette Introduced as New Executive Director of Badminton Canada

OTTAWA, ON - Badminton Canada is pleased to welcome Joe as its new Executive Director, effective December 3, 2013.

“We are really happy to have Joe join our team,” said Peter Golding, Badminton Canada’s President. “His solid international experience along with his strong understanding of grass-roots sport will prove invaluable in working with our provincial partners to promote badminton across Canada.”

In his current role as the Regional Campaign Manager for Healthpartners in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, and previous management positions as the Logistics Manager with the 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax and in a number of different positions with Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) including Director of Sports and International Programs, Joe has placed an unwavering focus on strategic planning, operational decision-making and in building strong partnerships.

“I'm very excited about this opportunity with Badminton Canada and look forward to working with the Board of Directors, our provincial sport organizations and our members to enhance the quality of our programs, build our brand and raise the profile of our sport,” said Morissette. “I also look forward to supporting our athletes as they set their sights on major upcoming international competitions including the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, the 2015 Pan American Games on home-soil in Toronto and the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.”
